It was only a few weeks ago that Antonio Banderas shocked the world by tweeting from the inside of a classroom at Central Saint Martins, the fashion school that trained Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, and Phoebe Philo. And now we know why he’s there.
In an interview with 1Granary (it’s CSM’s student magazine), the award-winning actor explained that he enrolled in the course to learn how to make menswear.
“I’m here to gain knowledge, basically,” he said. “I got to a point where I’ve done 92 movies—I am not going to stop—I’m going to continue doing movies and producing, and I want to direct more—but there were other things in my life that I was interested in.”
“There is one garment that I love that was lost in menswear a long time ago, and I would like to experiment with it: the cape,” he said. “For me, it’s actually easier than a coat, you walk into a place and you just BOOM! throw it off.”
